Israeli Leaders Fault Bush on War

Amid the political and diplomatic fallout from Israel’s faltering invasion of Lebanon, some Israeli officials are privately blaming President George W. Bush for egging Prime Minister Ehud Olmert into the ill-conceived military adventure against the Hezbollah militia in south Lebanon.

Thank you for posting this. I had to sit back and digest the content for a couple of minutes. Leaves a bad taste because of Bush's consistent miscalculation at every point and level with his Middle Eastern foreign policy.

He has 30 months left before he has to vacate the White House. A lot can happen in 30 months. This does not leave me feeling optimistic.

No, it doesn't leave me optimistic either. He can still do much more damage. Bush is the worst president the U.S. ever had to endure, and I'm afraid his ill-conceived plans and miscalculations will reverberate for a very long time to come, both at home and abroad.

I certainly hope Americans have finally opened their eyes to the realities of the neo-con agenda, and that they will not be duped into voting for a Republican president in the near future. Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld-Wolfowitz-Rove's grave miscalculations have adversely reshaped American foreign and domestic policy. Not to mention the thousands of lives lost needlessly, and all the billions of taxpayers's money! It will take very hard work to undo some of the damage. Hope the American people are up to the task!

Thanks for the link. It is hard to know what goes on in these closed door high level meetings, but Israel's actions were certainly consistent with the PNAC agenda.

The neocons will, of course, ignore the evidence and continue to promote folly.

But the media, without exception, had everyone believing Israel was responding to an unprovoked attack.

The only criticism from the "left" was that the Israeli response was 'disporportionate' as opposed to the assertion from the "right" as being "measured".

If investigative research by the likes of Sy Hersch and Robert Parry weren't enough, now we have Israeli officials incriminating the Bush WH in orchestrating this mess with Israel months before the "unprovoked" action by Hizbollah. Over a thousand innocent civilians, mostly women and children dead and a country reduced to rubble, and the west (Canada among them) has the gall to label others as terrorists?!

Bugs me to no end that every mainstream media outlet posing as journalists has become a mouthpiece for the war mongering terrorists that occupy the Whitehouse and the Kinesset.

This is why all those who seek some semblance of truth behind events are compelled to eschew the corporate msm and look elsewhere for information. Since all the large media are owned by a few corporate giants, they have been effectively neutered. This includes the erstwhile 'liberal' media such as BBC and CBC. Instead of good journalism, they are mere mouthpieces for whichever government is in power and whom their corporate owners
support.

What is important to these corporate owners is the bottom line, which means getting ever more profits from advertising dollars and less problems from burdensome, costly government regulations. They must avoid stepping on the wrong toes at all cost, and the heck with the truth.

Yes, the neo-cons will ignore the evidence and continue to promote folly. We can look forward to more snafus from the Bush-Blair-Harper Group. At least, Americans may wake up and vote in someone more moderate, whereas in Canada, there really doesn't seem to be anyone in the opposing parties who could be considered leader of our country. The Liberals are headless. So it looks like we may be stuck with neo-con Harper for a long time. Alas!
