Bush Seeks Political Gains from Foiled Plot
While the war in the Middle East rages on unabated, taking its deadly toll on innocent lives and ravaging Lebanon, President Bush went to his Crawford ranch for his yearly vacation. He cycled, rode, kicked back, enjoyed his summer r and r, and perhaps reflected upon his plummeting popularity in the polls and loss of some supporters in his own party. Then along came the news about the foiled alleged British bomb plot and Bush, revitalized, seized this as an opportunity to pound away at his critics.
