MNN "True Peace & Reconciliation Day" for Indigenous P & Settlers?

Today, the day after Canada Day, Kahentinetha Horn looks to the future, hopeful that it will bring a better, more just, egalitarian Canada.

JULY 2ND “TRUE PEACE AND RECONCILIATION DAY” FOR INDIGNEOUS PEOPLE AND THE SETTLERS” - A HOPE FOR THE FUTURE (124th day of our land reclamation)

MNN. July 2, 2006. This is the day after the celebration of "Canada [theft-of-native-land] Day", July 1st. It’s time to move on and look to the future. Perhaps sometime soon July 2nd will be the new day of celebration when the settlers decide to leave behind colonialism and the injustices that created the Canada we know today. Perhaps we will be celebrating a true political partnership, not one that is founded on colonial fraud, deceit, oppression and death. Perhaps there will be equality, mutual respect and true regard for the agreements and original nation-to-nation relationships that were originally worked out with us.

don't know....kahentinetha is more hopeful than me......maybe the europeans and other nations have been ragging enough on canada that serious strides are being made. i'm just not trusting this one until i hear the opp, rcmp and army have pulled out.
