The Motherhood Manifesto

In honour of Mother's Day coming this Sunday, I have decided to post this piece from TomPaine.com. This year, forget the flowers -- honour Mom with a pledge to end the nation's "care crisis." Although this was written by Ruth Rosen, an American, it holds true for women everywhere, and bears serious thought:

Nineteenth-century women dared to dream of a day that honored women’s commitment to peace, justice and political activism. We can do no less. We should honor their vision by committing ourselves to solving the Care Crisis and promoting the rights of working mothers.
