Six Nations: 'Media and Canada Disinformation Smear Campaign'
I have just confirmed the information below, and the police have not withdrawn (or "backed off") as is being reported by the media, although talks are ongoing. However, the Six Nations area is still 'under siege', as the person I spoke with told me the police are visible in large numbers around the compound.DON'T BELIEVE THE STORIES THAT CANADA AND THE MEDIA ARE SENDING OUT. THE SEIGE IS DEFINITELY NOT OVER. THE COPS, MOUNTIES AND THE ARMY ARE STILL BREATHING DOWN OUR NECKS. CANADA HAS NOT WITHDRAWN ITS TROOPS FROM SIX NATIONS. AT 5:00 AM THIS MORNING A SWAT TEAM WAS SEEN ON UNITY ROAD 10 MINUTES AWAY FROM HERE. RCMP AND OPP HAVE SET UP HUGE HEADQUARTERS NEARBY. 20 RCMP VANS LOADED WITH WEAPONS AND PERSONNEL WERE CITED IN CALEDONIA. THERE'S STILL ARMY INSTALLED IN 5 HANGARS AT HAMILTON AIRPORT. THERE COULD AS MANY AS 100 WELL EQUIPMENT SOLDIERS IN EACH HANGAR WITH APC'S AND EVERYTHING NECESSARY TO TAKE CARE OF THE "INDIAN PROBLEM" THE WAY INDIAN AFFAIRS ALWAYS DREAMT IT COULD.
WE ARE STILL LIVING IN A STATE OF FEAR. AT THE READY ARE 1000 ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE, 250 RCMP AND HANGARS FULL OF ARMY PERSONNEL READY TO ATTACK UNARMED INJUNS. WE NEED YOU.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT. BRING RAIN GEAR AND BOOTS. NON-PERMISHABLE FOOD. GAS MASKS. LEMONS TO CLEAR THE TEAR GAS FROM YOUR EYES. ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATION. STRONG HEARTS AND GOOD CHEER. EVERYTHING YOU'LL NEED TO STAY HERE MAYBE FOR A WHILE.
WE'RE STILL WAITING FOR AN APOLOGY FROM CANADA FOR THEIR RUDENESS AND FOR THE ASSAULT THEY COMMITTED ON US THE OTHER MORNING.

Uh-huh. And if you are a white-dominated society that gets rich off of land stolen from indigenous nations which are systematically destroyed over the course of centuries, what's that called? "Just the way things are," according to the mainstream, rather than the "theft" or "colonization" or "genocide" that it truly deserves.

Thank you, Scott. You've said it truthfully.
BTW, I post updates and information as I receive them.
So 'Localyokel', please don't shoot the messenger! Get rid of your bigoted attitude (if you are capable of this) and open your mind to hear the other peoples' views. Only then can there be real dialogue and peaceful co-existence.
Obviously, these People have some real issues that can no longer be shuffled under the rug or ignored. Peaceful, just solutions must be worked out to which our governments adhere. No more backroom deals and touble-talk.

Localyokel, thanks for your implied apology and for your more logical comments lately.
The issue of First Nations land may seem somewhat complex, so I suggest you read some of my other posts about background info, and a fellow blogger Sketchy Thought's excellent post about Canada's indigenous peoples and some things for us 'settlers' to ponder:
Detoxifying from Canada.
It also gives good background and overview.
There are also numerous other highly-informative articles available on the web. (I don't have the links right now, but you can do a Google Search and learn more.)
I too am a 'settler', who came here as a little girl from Eastern Europe. I have always been a taxpayer, and am a home-owner. If some of my taxes would be diverted toward the payment of lands -- or assisted with reclamation of lands -- for our First Nations Peoples, that would be more than acceptable to me. Although my income is minimal, I would even somehow manage to pay a bit more in taxes (even though our taxes in Brampton are already exorbitant!) if that would be needed, as long as it went to the People and not to the coffers of rich government bureaucrats.
However, the First Nations People are not trying to displace 'us settlers', but merely trying to get back some of the land that rightfully belongs to them, and which they were swindled out of by double-dealing governments and their puppets.
I know that some of the Six Nations people may not support the traditional Long House but rather support the band councils (which you call 'democracy'). But I think the majority do support the Long House, although I don't have those numbers. That is between the People themselves to sort out.
I sincerely hope that a peaceful resolution to the Six Nations land claim will come about soon, so that everyone can get back to their lives and rebuilding the broken relationships they now have with their neighbours. I also hope that now our governments will finally address the issue of the First Nations Peoples and right the injustices they have perpetrated upon them for so long (remember the residential schools? That's just one of numerous examples).
