1. There are still some 27,000 nuclear warheads in the world, enough to destroy civilization and most life on earth. Nuclear weapons continue to place humans on the endangered species list.
   
2. Ninety-five percent of all nuclear weapons in global arsenals are in the arsenals of the US and Russia. It is only these countries, and particularly the US, that can lead the world toward a nuclear weapons-free future.
3. The United States alone has spent over $6 trillion, an extraordinary amount, on nuclear weapons systems since the dawn of the Nuclear Age. During this time more than 70,000 nuclear weapons have been developed.
