Secret Military Tribunals: 'US Teaches World Loopholes in Democracy'

Steven Clemons, publisher of The Washington Note, has written an interesting post about the forthcoming “Secret Military Tribunals” issue that is going before the US Supreme Court this week. He has suggested via an interesting vignette, in which Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs students arranged a teleconference meeting with Libya’s Qaddafi, that America is teaching many thugs in the world “the loopholes” in democracy — rather than the substance of democracy and checks-and-balances as envisioned by America’s founding fathers.
