My next question is: "How long are we expected to stay??"Militants launched a series of attacks against government offices and a police convoy across southern Afghanistan on Saturday, leaving a district chief and 15 others dead - and bringing the death toll from two days of battles to 38, officials said. The officials said more than 200 rebels were fighting 250 police and Afghan soldiers, as well as US troops - making it the biggest and deadliest battle in months.
The bloodshed underscores the massive challenge that will face thousands of British and Canadian troops in the next few months as they relieve American forces in southern Afghanistan, where anti-government sentiments remain strong.
